Over thirty three years of reliable, dedicated service to our customers is something worth celebrating!
It all started when John Graff and Charlie Tackett decided to stop building air conditioners at the Chrysler Air-Temp factory (Where the Corvette Plant is now) and start installing and servicing them. That was March 19th, 1976.
Today, we have grown into a modern facility with 13,000 square feet of office, manufacturing, and storage space at our headquarters at 563 Lovers Lane in Bowling Green.
When it started John and Charlie worked out of their homes, after the first year Charlie moved to Lexington, KY and reentered the manufacturing industry and Gra-Tac moved into it’s first office, with Ginnie (John’s wife) taking over the book keeping. Then in 1981 the company moved to a brand new 5000 square foot space on New Porter Pike. The main focus during the 80s was residential new construction and industrial service.
In 1988 the company moved to our present location at 563 Lovers Lane a 13,000 sq.ft. office / shop space. With a complete sheet metal shop, service parts inventory area, extensive equipment inventory, and office area. With this change of address, also cemented the change in the type of work we do. Gra-Tac is primarily a Residential Service, Repair, and Replacement contractor, but we also do some commercial and Industrial jobs.
Gra-Tac is a Honeywell Perfect Climate contractor, which means we have all the latest devices for air cleaning, humidification, and purification.
Over the years, Gra-Tac has installed Bard, Westinghouse, Coleman, York, Amana, Carrier and most recently added Trane Heating and Air Conditioning products. We now sell & install Trane, Amana, and Carrier heating and cooling systems.
John’s son, Keith joined the business in 1991, after service training at Bowling Green Technical College. Since then he has worked his way up through the company, and has had extensive training in all phases of the business. He is leading the company now.
To become better business people, John and Keith joined the Air Conditioning Contractors of America. Through that association they became part of a nine-member smaller group. The group, made up of comparable heating and cooling companies, get together twice a year to critique and teach others how to improve their businesses.
“Just being part of the group is better than the average contractor”, said John Ketelsen, owner of Guardian Heating, a heating and cooling company in Chicago, IL., and a member of the group. “They’re getting ideas from all over the country.”
Our dedication and history in the industry is your guarantee of quality service and a tradition of superior service, installation, and products. We hope if you are looking for someone to help you on your next heating or cooling project you will let us show you how 33 years of commitment to you makes us THE company of Choice in the Heating and Cooling industry in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
